Our Story
About The Mill
In late 2016, Joe Hoehn received a call indicating the possible closure of a once fully functioning grain mill in Waseca, where he had collaborated on past projects with the previous owner, United Feeds. Headquartered in Sheridan, Indiana, United Feeds believed they could serve customers through other plants, making the Waseca location unnecessary. The Waseca plant manager connected Joe with Indiana headquarters to discuss purchasing the mill. Initially considering renting the space for local businesses needing warehouse storage, Joe engaged in two months of negotiations. Surprisingly, he kept the deal under wraps until its completion, revealing it to his wife, Deb, afterward. Though initially skeptical, Deb saw potential in using the space for events, starting with their niece's wedding. Despite its past as a feed mill, they embarked on renovations, including constructing a bar and stage. The Mill Event Center was born soon thereafter its inaugural wedding in September 2017, quickly garnering interest for future events.

We're the Hoehn family; we work hard and we play hard! We have all been instrumental in establishing and operating The Mill uniquely to our skill sets. With all of us lifelong residents of the Waseca area, we deeply care about this community that has supported us throughout our lives. Our core values are faith, family and service, shaping our daily lives. Waseca is our home, and we're grateful to have created a space for bringing together friends, family, and communities from all over.
